Curves of Time

This series captures the sand dunes of Death Valley, California, and White Sands, New Mexico—two striking Southwest desert landscapes. Sand dunes fascinate me as an ever-changing canvas shaped by wind and light. Like the human body, they feature sensual curves and organic forms. At sunrise or sunset, low-angle light casts dramatic shadows that transform these dunes into sculptural masterpieces, revealing hidden textures and patterns.

What draws me to dunes is their paradoxical nature—both permanent and ephemeral. While these formations have existed for centuries, wind constantly reshapes their surfaces. Each ripple and shadow is temporary, existing only until the next wind rewrites the landscape. This transience mirrors light's fleeting quality, and capturing these moments preserves something never meant to last. In these vast, minimalist spaces, I find meditation on form, light, and the quiet beauty of impermanence.
